My Dreamy Visit to Tokyo’s Kirby Café

My Dreamy Visit to Tokyo’s Kirby Café

If you’re a Kirby fan visiting Tokyo, the Kirby Café is an absolute must! With locations in Tokyo and Hakata, the Tokyo branch is the more popular one, while Hakata is slightly easier to get a reservation. From the moment you step inside, the café’s adorable and dreamy décor will completely capture your heart—it’s just too cute!

First Impressions & Photo Ops

Upon entering, staff will help you take a photo! There are props available for extra fun shots, so don’t miss them (our staff didn’t remind us, but it’s worth checking). Every corner of the café is full of Kirby magic, from the soft pastel colors to the themed furniture, making it a perfect place for photos.

Kirby Café Menu

The menu is as cute as the décor, though prices are on the higher side. But hey, you’re paying for the Kirby experience and all the cuteness! Some dishes even come with collectible items like plates or utensils that you can take home—perfect if you want a souvenir.

Must-Try Dishes

  • Kirby Burger: Super cute and can be upgraded to include a clean plate to take home. Honestly, it looks like a kids’ meal but that’s all part of the charm!
  • Seafood Japanese Yakisoba: Comes with a round Kirby bento box that can also be taken home.
  • Kirby Car Dessert: Every table can order one—mandatory for the full experience!

Drinks & Souvenirs

Ordering drinks comes with random collectible coasters you can bring home, and you can even upgrade to take home a clean mug. The combination of cute food and themed drinkware makes every meal feel like a mini celebration.

Dining Experience

The portion sizes are small, much like a kids’ meal, so don’t expect to leave stuffed. Desserts are sweet and fun but not extraordinary. If you’re here for the Kirby cuteness, you won’t be disappointed.

My boyfriend tried the orange Kirby curry (apparently called Waddle Dee Curry) and found it decent. Honestly, the food here is more about paying the “Kirby cuteness tax” than gourmet flavors. After our visit, we even grabbed some instant noodles back at the hotel—just to make sure we didn’t go hungry! 😂

Kirby Café Merchandise

After dining, there’s a special section for café-exclusive merchandise, accessible only if you’ve reserved a table. Everything is super cute, though we visited near closing time, so we focused on quick purchases.

There’s also a store outside the café selling takeaway items, which doesn’t require a reservation. Many items overlap with the café-exclusive goods, so if you’re just here for merchandise, the outside store works fine.

Tips for Visiting

  • Reservations: Tokyo and Hakata branches open reservations for the next month on the 10th at 18:00 JST. Book early to secure your spot! (You can reserve easily through SakuraWalk.)
  • Expectations: Come for the adorable experience, not a full meal. Portions are small and desserts are average.
  • Souvenirs: Opt for dishes that come with collectible items if you want to bring a piece of Kirby home.
