If you’re a Pokémon fan visiting Osaka, the Pokémon Café in Shinsaibashi is an absolute must-see! After a few attempts at booking, I finally got to experience this adorable café firsthand—thanks to booking through SakuraWalk—and here’s everything you need to know.
Pokémon Café Seats: A, B & C
Booking a table at Pokémon Café can feel like a mini-game in itself! Seats are divided into three categories: A, B, and C, but the official website doesn’t provide a clear explanation. Here’s what I found from experience and research:
- A Seats: The hardest to get! These are the four-person tables in the center, right in front of the performance stage. Perfect for catching every Pokémon moment.
- B Seats: Located along the walls, usually near the stage but not as central as A seats.
- C Seats: These include bar seats and some table seats farther from the stage. They’re more flexible and can be for 1–6 people.
Lucky us! We booked B seats, but on the day of our visit, we were guided to a spot right near the stage and next to a photo-perfect Pikachu chef wall. Truly a stroke of luck!
Even the A seats have a reserved Pikachu spot, specially designed for photo ops—so cute! And the transparent partitions at C seats also feature Pikachu patterns—adorable from every angle.
Ordering & Menu
Ordering is simple with iPads provided at your table, and you can switch the language to English if needed. The menu is always updated online and shows photos and prices for every dish, including limited-time specials.
Main Menu Highlights
- Main Courses: Around ¥2,400, with themed dishes like Pikachu’s Curry Rice and Snorlax’s Sleepy Lunch Plate.
- Kids’ Meals: ¥1,540, only for children under 12, comes with juice and jelly. Perfectly portioned for smaller appetites.
- Drinks: Not included in main sets. Choices include themed drinks like Pikachu’s Electric Lemonade (¥1,540), Eevee Royal Milk Tea (¥1,375), and Gengar’s Mysterious Light Slush (¥2,035). Each drink comes with a collectible coaster!
Must-Try Treats
- Pikachu Curry Rice: Cute and photo-worthy, with fried chicken, potato salad, and side veggies. Taste is decent—mainly all about the fun factor!
- Snorlax Lunch Plate: Generous portions with surprisingly tasty rice and sides. Perfect for big appetites.
- Ice Cream Soda & Eevee Milk Tea: Sweet and whimsical, with miniature Pokémon hiding in the whipped cream.
Collectible table mats are randomly given and yours to take home—a great souvenir even if you don’t know all the characters.
Pikachu & Co. Appearances
The real magic happens when Pikachu comes out to play. Even from our B seat, we had a close-up view of the Pikachu chef moving around, giving my kids a chance to snap unforgettable photos. One of the funniest moments was Pikachu stuck in a hole in the costume, walking sideways—pure Pokémon comedy!
The walls are decorated with Pokémon plushies and the ceiling has Pikachu dolls hanging overhead, making the café feel truly immersive.
Shopping & Extras
Before leaving, you’ll pass by the Pokémon merchandise display. Unlike the café items, merchandise here can be tax-free. We resisted the adorable Pikachu chef plush but got a few smaller souvenirs instead.
Next door is the Pokémon Center DX Osaka, perfect for trying arcade machines or grabbing exclusive items. My little one had a blast playing games in their Pokémon outfit—a perfect way to end our café adventure!
